My coffee has turned against me, I feel vaguely sick :S

I have all these story ideas in my head, and they're all ... *festering*, flailing their arms about and I'm fully enjoying letting them play out in my head but I can't seem to make the words fall into place like I want them to.

Often I find that when I want to write something it's like when I want to say something in Korean. I got what I want to say in my head, I even have an intimate enough knowledge of the language that I should be able to get what's in my head to come out of my mouth in a relatively coherent manner. But when I actually *open* my mouth to say what I want, the words scatter and escape me and I'm left completely mute :/

During my lunch-break I'm thinking I'll give a shot to my Scenes from a Strip Show idea (I have an actual *title*, this is also very rare), which is gonna be like a *totally* gratuitious bit of smut. But hell, that's what I do *g*

I've been listening to "Smile and Wave" on repeat all day and just ... man, how did I not know about these guys before? This is my favourite type of music and I just LOVE every damn song. I think if I have time I'll go on over to Future Shop today and pick up the other two CDs of theirs I saw.

[bops]

Also, on the subject of crossover fics where two characters played by the same actor appear:

To the best of my recollection, I've never written this altho I have read several. Most recently I read [livejournal.com profile] estrella30's [Loneliness] which was just soooo soooo good. And it *worked*, man, did it work.

I know these types of crossovers always require some suspension of disbelief, since, well - it's not every day you run into your doppleganger, y'know? And so when it comes to these two characters (say Billy and Ray) running into each other, there's usually a brief moment of 'what the fuck? you look like me' and then they move on from there. Sometimes there's some fact-twisting to make it seem like they look a lot alike, but really not identical - which I think tends to be a bit more believable.

I remember reading a fic by [livejournal.com profile] viridan5 in the X-Files fandom where all of DD's characters showed up in one fic and it was revealed that Mulder was the victim or some sort of cloning experiment. But rarely can such an explaination be used in a fic.

Then there's always the 'long-lost brothers/cousins/family' route, which actually, now that I think about it, I can't ever recall seeing.

Anyway, I've got a HCL/Due South crossover plot bunny, and I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around how I'm going to deal with the obvious likeness of Ray/Billy in the fic (altho this will not be a Ray/Billy pairing). I keep picturing this conversation in my head that goes something like:

Ray: Aunt Mildie, on my mother's side, maiden name Hatcher.
Billy: Never fucking heard of her.
Ray: [getting frustrated] Uncle Bob, last name Faulkner.
Billy: [frowning] Who the hell name's anyone *Bob* any more?
Ray: Do you fucking know him or not!
Billy: No!
Ray: God, I hate you.

Also, in this story Ray is going to go undercover as Billy (yes, yes, I know, and then there's going to be a misunderstanding, a fight, Fraser's going to reveal his love for Ray through Billy, and someone ring the cliche bell), so there's the whole 'tattoo' issue. Even if I can somehow justify the fact that Billy and Ray look exactly alike, I don't know how I'm going to logicify my way around the fact that they both have the same exact tattoo in the same exact place.

Now, since RAY is going undercover as BILLY it makes more sense for Ray not to have the tattoo to begin with. It's much easier to put a tattoo on someone than take it off. But [shakes fist] damn it, Ray SHOWED his tattoo in several eps and Billy showed his and [cries] I'm an anal retentitive bitch and why can't I let it goooooo?

Work completed today on a slightly less sour note than yesterday, so that brought the happy. Also, I, um, bought a digital camera (for about TWO HUNDRED FRIGGING DOLLARS OMG more than I intended to spend) as well as two more Headstones CDs, wee!! "Nickles for your Nightmares" and "Picture of Health" - if they're even half as good as "Smile and Wave" I will be very happy.

It's weird, I know I intend on buying pretty much ALL the Headstones stuff, but I'm buying it slowly, one or two at a time because I want to fool myself into thinking I'm not spending as much as I'm actually spending.

As for the digital camera ... well, it's about time I stepped into the 21st century *g* But RASRFLJDSFLGKJWRELKJ there's a dead pixel on the screen, so it's going back to Future Shop soon. Bleh. Just my luck. I love technology, but it tends to forsake. A lot.

And yes, I need a nice long shower, followed by a nice long bubble bath (yes, I shower before I take a bath :P!) and then I want to (hopefully) do some writing.
