dayse: (Wonderful Wilby - Duck/Dan)

My subject lines are getting more descriptive and even informative, should I one day look back through my archives for something. Upon reflection, this does not displease me :)

I went to the Home and Garden show at the Canadian International Centre with my mom today and there were many sights to behold indeed. My mom bought me some funkay jewlery (a ring shaped like a grasshopper, and one shaped like a strawberry, $5 for the two), and we bought these giant feather boas, too, hehe. They were quite fluffy and pretty (yellow and white)! I have no idea what use they will come to.

Also, one of the stands at the show (Lindt chocolate) was having this promotional give away thing. You could spin this wheel (there were about 30 options, I believe) and all but three were for a "free sample" of chocolate. Two of the others was a little stuffed rabbit, and one (the grand prize) was for a GIANT FRIGGIN CHOCOLATE BUNNY. This is like ... a three pound hollow chocolate bunny, all done up in gold wrapper, with a bell around its neck, in this plastic display box.

And yes, I won the friggin' bunny *g* There were oohs and ahhs from the crowd, and dude, I wasn't even gonna spin but sometimes you just get a *feeling*, y'know? And I saw the wheel and I had this weird 'you're going to win and you're going to be carrying the box home' moment, so *shrug* I got in line and there we go. Mmm .. .giant chocolate bunny. You will be eaten piece by piece over the course of the next couple of months.

I keep having these weird little bunnies, particularly of the Paul and Callum variety, and that's somewhat worrying to me because I really don't feel like I can write Paul at all, I have no idea of his character. I saw his Wonderful Wilby backstage interview, and I read that one article of his wherein he is introduced to slash, but other than that - nada, nothing.

But yes, I having "casting couch" bunnies, tee hee [goes to happy place]

Then ... there's

How much did I love this movie? Oh, did I love this bunny. [livejournal.com profile] visionshadows and I watched this together while chatting online and it just made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Our commentary ran like this, for the most part:

dayse: duck!
rache: duck!
[time passes]
rache: duck!
dayse: duck!
[babble about his overalls and his twisty little overall strap and - and ... *squee*]

And dudes, flist, okay - I just had a fantabulous idea ... in fact, this will go outside of the cut-tag ...

Back to Wilby. It was wonderful, so truly wonderful, and CKR's Duck was just *perfect* and so utterly and completely endearing. He's a beautiful man and a beautiful actor and he can be so damn tender and sweet it slays me, really. Duck/Dan made that movie for me (although I found the whole movie damn enjoyable) and all their scenes together just made me squeak with incoherence.

STUBBLE TOUCHING! LEANING IN FOR SMOOCHES! FACE CARESSING! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

lovelovelovelovelove

I wish Paul and Callum could have had more scenes together, although I understand it wouldn't really have been necessary to the plot. I am very happy with what we got though, and I had to take a moment to muse on how so very DIFFERENT the dynamic between these two characters are, as opposed to Ray/Fraser.

Speaking of which: Ray and Duck ... could not be more different. From body language, to tone of voice, to just the way Callum carries himself for these roles, these are two people who are worlds apart. I did see some Fraser/Buddy similarities though (as was previously discussed in a post of [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl's) but nothing that took me out of the moment. And I think Paul did a wonderful job, too. He really downplayed his character, and did a good job of portraying a man who is basically good and decent but at a confusing and disappointing phase of his life.

But yes - a great movie all around. And I could see Duck unrolling his little sign over and over! And his relfection in the rearview mirror as he waved sadly goodbye at Dan. And just his *smile* - that beautiful beautiful smile in the hospital room at the end. [sighs happily]

He really was the angel of the piece. It was lovely :)

But yes, my idea. We should have an IRC Movie night.

FANDOM GIRLS AND BOYS UNITE! Let's pick a night and a time where a bunch of us can get together, stick a movie or a due South episode, what have you, into our DVD players or VCRs and just watch it as a big online group of dorky madness.

irc.squidge.org is a good server, no? And a room is easy peasy to make, like #movienight or something.

It will be Fandom Night at the Movies (omg)!

Anyone interested in this? :D?

Hee! You got a Lindt fix. A hella big one as well. They had the giant bunnies last year. You best make that one last since I don't have easy access to that Lindt. ;)

They are completely different. There's a stillness about Duck that is completely the opposite of Ray's frenetic energy. Mind you, both are devastatingly attractive.

I'd love a movie night - however, timezones are an issue for me and the whole, being at work thing.

You know it's funny: no matter how many Wilby posts I read on my f-list, my reaction still seems to be "Eeeeee! Oh my god, WILBY!!!" I guess it's just that good. :)

Movie night sounds fun. Watching squeeful things with non-fannish friends just leads to uncomfortable questions about why you need to have your hands clamped over your mouth throughout the entire movie that way. Not quite as satisfying, I suspect...
