Another Saturday at work, another rambly ramble

I has coffee \^_^/!!

I was one of the people who downloaded the advanced copy of “Midway” and omg – this totally shoots up to one of my favourite episodes of the season so far. My love for Carl Binder knows no bounds. I mean, I love Gero, because the dude can pack quite the emotional wallop (although he has a bad habit of, you know, killing people), but he tends to be a bit uneven. He needs work on pacing and balance in his episodes, because it seems sort of all over the place at times.

But Binder. Oh, oh, Binder. “Midway” was more like watching a mini-movie than a 45 minutes television episode. It had the perfect balance of humour, action, and characterization. Everyone had their role, and their time, and it was just fun to watch. And Binder brings the Mckay/Rodney just as much as Gero does.

WTF, lj, why won't you let me do the cut tag with more than one word?

Because lately I can only think in list form:

- Teyla! HAI TEYLA! I've missed you!! I really liked that whole scene, particularly the mental image of a 15 month Teyla beating the hell out of someone (and awww - John stood up when Teyla got up to leave, such a gentelmen *g*).

- Ronon meeting Teal’c, hee! I’ve only seen about two (maybe) episodes of SG-1, but this was greatness. I’m not sure why Ronon was so hostile right off the bat, except when you think back he’s always sort of been like that. It takes a while for him to warm up to people, I guess. And as [Bad username or site: ”jcjoeyfreak” @ livejournal.com] mentioned, he was probably still :B’ing from having just fought that big marine guy. Not to mention he obviously didn’t like the idea of Teal’C being there to coach him to begin with.

- In the mess hall scene, I couldn’t help but think that Teal’c’s gold head emblem thingy (does it have to do with Teal’c’s symbiont, er, does he have a symbiont? *needs to watch more SG-1*) was an all to helpful target for Ronon’s gun.

- Where is your wristband, John? He didn’t have his wristband! No cutting marks though, so thar go those emo!John theories (ahahaha *cough*)

- That fight scene was awesome, I wish we could have seen just a little more of it. I loved Ronon breaking Teal’c’s stick. YOU GO, RONON! SGA FTW!!! \^_^/

- Heh, John is in your face, taking your foreign monies. Does that mean he bet on a draw? How much do I love that he took two Canadian fives, and a ... yen? Won? *fails* The Canadian fives or totally for when he goes back home with Rodney, so he can buy them coffee and bagel belts.

- "Be a good boy." - "I hate you." FTW!!!

- Midway is so *pretty*, it's like rigatoni. Only, you know, *space* rigatoni. Which really is the best kind.

- Binder seems to be a fan of military!Sheppard, all hot and capable and shooting stuff/blowing stuff up. I approve *nods* That scene where Sheppard is leading his men down the hallway, guns drawn? Rwar.

- "Oh, crap." *SMACK*! Hehe.

- John drawing his gun on the monitor was hawt.

- Kavanagh seems less asshole-y this episode. Maybe it's the haircut? It looks much better than the greasy ponytail.

- I like it when John kills things.

- Teal'c and Ronon stuck in that small room together, both wanting the same bunk, glowering at each other, watching Three Stooges with stone-faced non-amusement ... It's fanfic! It's fanfic ON MY TV.

- Although I'm sure the whole 'indeed' bit would've been funnier had I watched SG-1, it still cracked my shit up.

- Oh man, John asking Rodney to vent the atmosphere *poppy heart*. Of course John would say something like that, because it's JOHN, and it's not a Very Bad Situation until John offers to do something self-sacrificing at least *once*. And the thing is, Rodney would not have done it if it had just been him and John and a bunch of wraith on Midway. But he was thinking about Lee and Kavanagh and the other scientists, and the Wraith coming through the door and he KNEW that venting the atmosphere might kill John, and Rodney'd probably trade all those people for ONE John, but he did it anyway because he knew it was the right thing to do. Had it been just him, he'd have stayed there and tried to figure something out, worked until he was sure John was safe, but he wasn't so he didn't. And I think that was a really tough call, and it just shows how much Rodney has GROWN, because risking your own life is almost easy (especially with this group of people) but risking someone else's life, risking your FRIEND'S life for the benefit of the larger group who DEPEND on you and who look at you as a leader - that's hard. So YAY Rodney! That was really bad-ass, and John would be proud of you.

- And yeah, Rodney calling John by his first name never gets old.

- When Rodney finds John in the suit, and his hands are on the panel and he's looking at him, and John is dazed and relieved, and the music SWEELLLLLS. Oh my heart, she aches *sighs happily*

- Rodney's aggravated mocking of the other scientists also = FTW!!!!

- That last scene. Not enough poppy hearts in the WORLD. Ronon put his finger between John's LIPS! And John's sleepy flailing gave me CAVATIES.

Oh, Show. Oh SHOW I LUB YOU.

Teal'c doesn't have a symbiont anymore, they found a drug to replace what the symbiont did for him. The gold emblem on his forehead is because he was the first prime of Apophis, and all first primes have gold emblems. All the other Jaffa have black ones.

Man, I *adored* the bit where Ronon wakes John up. Like to little bitty bite sized pieces. SO FREAKING CUTE.

I need to watch SG-1, man *g*

And [sighs] oh, show. Why must you be so adorkable?

The first... say... five seasons? Are INCREDIBLE. I love them to itty bitty pieces. Then 6-10 happened, and they were not as incredible, though they have their fans. I'm just not one of them. :)

BUT OMG, I did so hard core love that show in the day.

I need to rewatch it. I was in a not so great mood/punch-happy one, so you know, I didn't get to take much in, but what I did see I adored. Because, dude. Ronon was all 'is my turf. go home' to Teal'c and that was so awesome, because it means Ronon really calls it home. More than words. And his maniacal unholy glee at the fight made me jump up and down. (Not to mean to mention the hour comment means the boy has endurance...)

Grah. I loved that freaking episode. And upset Teyla! Hehe, I've never her say she wanted to beat someone up before. She must have been mad pissed off. I love it. Because you know as pregnant as she was, she would still choke those people for saying something negative. How much would I have loved to see that scene??

[identity profile] dayse.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, yeah - going at that pace for a whole hour's crazy. I imagine it happening like that scene in The Matrix, where someone is all "Teal'c and Ronon are fighting!!" and everyone comes running hehe *g*

Dude, Teyla could totally choke all da bitches!

I know, right? I'm imagining that scene in Remember the Titans when Ryan Gosling's character calls out fight and everyone runs in. Because frequently I think the characters are very much high schoolers. *grins*

Teyla is a permanent badass. I need to make an icon of her like that. Maybe during spring break, when I have more than an hour a night. When you manage to kill her polite gene, you're gonna be missing an important limb one random night.

Hee! Yes! John watching them fight for a while, eyes all wide like this O__O and some random scientist/marine walks by and they're all 'fight! fight! fight!' because yes. They're all 12.

And she totally is. I loved her in "Missing" when she just went Teyla, Warrior Princess on ALLLL of them. More of that yes plz.

I know right? You know he was thinking of who would bring the best money into the betting pool after about two minutes. Because he wasn't stupid. He'd totally call a draw because Carter would end it eventually. They had to leave at some point. And 12 might be generous. I'd say they're mentally around second grade with middle-aged bodies. *grins* At least when it comes to male bonding.

I know! I loved that. She was all "Take that" and I kept waiting for her to hit Keller over the head to shut the women up and carry her across. So she could find out what happened quicker. I can totally understand that. I can't wait to see her when the baby comes and someone says something that upsets her son. *laugh*

"Good boy"

"Hate you"

That just made this ep. Pouty, childish Ronon. How can you not adore that?

Hee, hee, hee.

[identity profile] dayse.livejournal.com 2008-02-20 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Ronon <33

And! I loved that scene where he's all "I'm not leaving him behind" about Teal'c! I was all YES :D
